Are you complaining about your life?

Are you complaining about something that has happened in your life? Are you dissatisfied with your current job situation? Your boss a bully? Your work not challenging or enjoyable? Your best friend is a liar? You have an annoying friend? You are going through a difficult stage?…….etc

Well maybe this blog may change your mind about life and your complaints.  Today, I went to church during lunch and the gospel reading was Matthew 15:21-28.

21And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon.” 23But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying after us.” 24He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26And he answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” 28Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

The priest during mass explained that Jesus did not answer the Canaanite women’s cry for help because he wanted to test her. God often tests us to see if we will rise to the occasion. The Canaanite women was persistent because she had faith and she got her reward.

Many times in the bible God tests our faith.  Personally, I see the trials and tribulations we go through as a way in which God helps us to build our strength.  Just like the caterpillar who needs to go through metamorphosis to become a butterfly, but if someone physically helps the caterpillar come out of its pupa, then the butterfly will not form properly and will not know how to fly.  That’s why the caterpillar *needs* go through that difficult stage by itself.

If you are experiencing something trying, perhaps it is God’s test to see if you have faith? Or perhaps God is giving you what you need to have more strength. Pray for strength in times of difficulties – God is always there for you, you are His child.
