Hurricane Irene

I have been through a few natural disasters – floods, earthquakes, (tsunami scares and radiation scares) and typhoons……..but never a hurricane. But when I hear of warnings about natural disasters, my heart beats a second faster.

I am thinking of all those people on the east coast right now – everyone who are in the path of Hurricane Irene, everyone who had to evacuate their homes and those who lost their lives. May God be with you and keep you safe in his arms.

From my experience, it is prudent to prepare an emergency pack to include:

– canned/dried food and water enough to last 3 days
– battery operated torch and radio
– identification documents
– duct tape
– blanket
– cash
– map of your local area / emergency evacuation areas / important telephone numbers

Always remember to put your shoes next to your bed so that when an unexpected event occurs during the night, you don’t have to stand on broken glass. Stay away from windows. Turn off all gas.

Anyway, I saw a few photos of damage caused by Hurricane Irene – dejavu……. Stay safe everyone! I am praying for you.
